Poptropica

Hi everyone. This is an awesomely huge topic I hope to finish posting in less than three days. So... onward!

Today's topic: Poptropica

Poptropica is an awesome virtual world for 5-15+ year old kids, and I currently have three accounts on the site. You may know me as Golden Bird (my primary account), Dizzy Penguin or Bashful Coyote. All three accounts are less than 7 months old. However, I rarely use the DP or BC accounts.

On Poptropica, you can complete islands for a reward of 100 credits each. I love all the things in the Poptropica store, available for a certain number of credits. Even though Poptropica introduced membership quite some time ago, very few items are members-only. As you may have inferred, I am sadly not a member. The perks of membership, however, (thank goodness) are quite good but few and far-between. Members get early access to new islands and free items at times. However, do not underestimate the power of membership.

Islands on Poptropica are (from oldest), Early Poptropica, Shark Tooth Island, Time Tangled Island, 24 Carrot Island, Superpower Island, Spy Island, Nabooti Island, Big Nate Island, Astro-Knights Island, Counterfeit Island, Reality TV Island, Mythology Island, Skullduggery Island, Steamworks Island, Great Pumpkin Island, Cryptids Island, Wild West Island, Wimpy Wonderland, Red Dragon Island, Shrink Ray Island, Mystery Train Island and Game Show Island (coming soon at time of posting). GB has finished 15 islands till date.

Now, to the Poptropica store. The store is, to say the least, AWESOME. You can buy a huge number of costumes for about 75 credits each. Also, you can buy items for any number of credits from none all the way to 350. Two items have been rendered free, from being priced at 350 credits before. They are Multiverse, in which you can create a room, get a code and tell your friends to join and Haunted House, a mini-venture which upon completion gets you 50 credits. The Haunted House is a strange case. Some time ago, it was free. A little later, it started going for 350 credits. Now, again it's free. All must be happy... No? Well, strange. If you want to read that 'deleted' line, go ahead.

Wow, this is an insanely long post... Well, for me, anyway. Now, for the multiplayer rooms. NOT to be confused with multiverses, mind you. These rooms are available all across Poptropica. You can challenge other players to games and chat. Since Poptropica promotes itself as a safe world for young children, you can only ask others one of three preset questions in the question bubbles. The response-giver can also only answer as per the answers given in the answer bubbles. You can play games with two players. If anyone sees me and challenges me to a game, be warned that I am awesome at Star Link. In fact, I have never once lost a game.

So (finally), welcome to the end of the end of this post (phew).

Bye!

Songs, Singing and Singers

Hi, people. First, I am sorry for not uploading for one FREAKING MONTH! Well, almost. Give or take 6 days. Sorry again, but now, (fanfare), on to the post!

Today's topic: (read the title)

Songs are now everywhere in our lives. You hear them in the mall, you go into a shop and chances are, a song is playing as background music. Some of us even sing in the shower. Singing in the elevator gives the same effect as singing in the shower, as they both have similar acoustics. There is a Wikipedia article pertaining to bathroom singing. Read it for further information.

Next, singers. Singers are even more important than songs, as they sing. Even if singers, songwriters and lyricists may be different people working on the song, chances are, only the singer will get most of the attention. There are different kinds of song genres. My personal favourite is Country. That may be influenced by the fact that my favourite singer sings mainly from this genre, but hey, I have an opinion! That singer is Taylor Swift. She has an awesome voice, and since this is my blog, for me to write what I wish, do not badmouth me for typing that.

Other genres which I do not particularly like/dislike are Rap, Hip Hop and Rock. Rock songs tend to be clashing and quite loud. One Rock singer I know of is Avril Lavigne. She seems pretty young, but she's actually 26 (last time I checked). Rap songs are spoken, fast, with/without spit spraying from the mouth of the rapper. Rappers include 50 Cent and Eminem. Hip Hop is fast and energetic. Hip Hop dancers are so energetic that they make me want to get up and dance with them.

Songs I think are worth listening to are:

-The Way I Loved You by Taylor Swift
-What the Hell by Avril Lavigne
-Bang Bang Bang by Selena Gomez (she is my best friend's idol)
-Count On Me by Bruno Mars
-Maybe Possibly by Megan and Liz
-DJ Got Us Falling In Love Again by Usher

That's it for this post.

Signing off,

Happy Wheels!

Hey, people. First, I want to make a little announcement. This blog will not be daily, as you can see from this post, but I will do it whenever I get time. I promise that I will upload at least once a week, unless I'm overseas and don't have Internet connection.
In the case of that happening,I'll make a little announcement. So.... back to the today's topic!

Today, I am going to talk about Happy Wheels. For those of you who know what it is, well, I was a little vague in my first post, saying I don't like gory games. For those of you who don't know what Happy Wheels is, it's an AWESOME game where you have to navigate your character from start to finish (which even has a little black-and-white victory flag!) in a maze created by Total Jerkface members.

If your character gets hurt, blood explodes from the body of your character in red rain, and you can see the spine, heart or other vital organ of your character. In other words, it's AWESOME!

I got hooked one day while the rest of my class was having exams and a few boys and I being from a different language, got free time to play on the computer. I was bored, then one of the boys showed me this game. Soon, I was HOOKED, for lack of a better word. Addicted, maybe? But anyways.

Review-wise, I'd say that the game is awesome. Thankfully, the graphics are not too good or it would be disgusting. Sadly, the loading time is a little too slow for my liking(and I play on a Windows 7). However, this game is NOT for the fainthearted or people who think that even the characters have feelings (this means you, Harsh).

Cheers!

Dystopia

Hey people! Right on time, my second post.

Today, I am going to talk about dystopian literature.
Dystopia is commonly known as the opposite of a utopia.

In short, a dystopian society is a society where everyone but the select few are oppressed. This can be seen in the Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins, in which the narrator of the series, Katniss Everdeen, goes to fight in the Hunger Games. More about that later so, let's go on.

Another example of a dystopian society is one where everything seems perfect but actually has something extremely imperfect running under the surface like in Delirium by Lauren Oliver, in which the narrator of the series, Lena Haloway, waits eagerly for her eighteenth birthday when she will be cured of the deadly disease, amor deliria nervosa, which is love. I will be writing overviews and reviews of both books tomorrow so keep reading!

Cookies and cream,

First Post

Hola, everyone! My very first blog post is up. I've been wanting to do this for a very long time but I kept on thinking that the little orange and white B in the corner was the logo for Bing, which, come to think of it, is quite ridiculous. But then, yet again, the Internet came to my rescue (aah...), and I checked Veronica Roth's blog and found that this came from another website, blogger.com.

A little about me...

I love reading fiction, playing on the computer and making crafts

However, I hate reading aloud, playing strategy games on the computer, drawing, exercising, public speaking, introducing myself, doing work, some classes at school, my best friend (which is weird, but true) and nonfiction books(unless they're Horrible Science/History)

So...

We have come to the end of my first post. Comment!
